Redemption cities. Reserve cities, the national banks in which were formerly permitted to act as
agents for the redemption of notes issued by national banks not located in reserve cities. The act
of June 20, 1874, abolished this provision. Notes of national banks are now redeemed by the
banks issuing them or by the Treasury.
