India rupee paper. Designation for the promissory notes issued by the Indian government the
interest on which is payable by drafts on India. When they bear on their face notification that
interest (in the form of drafts on India) can be collected at the Bank of England they are termed
enfaced paper. These drafts are readily bought by parties having remittances to make to India.
