Future. A contract the fulfilment of which is not required until a specified time in the future. Most of
the dealings in grain, especially wheat, corn and oats, and in cotton and coffee, are in futures. A
future is designated by the name of the month in which it matures. For instance, July grain, cotton
or .coffee sold in January (or in any month before July) is deliverable in July.
