Acknowledgment - A declaration or admission made and, signed before an authorized official,
such as a notary, commissioner or judge ; attached to bonds, mortgages, deeds, etc.

The purpose of an acknowledgment is to furnish satisfactory evidence that the instrument was
signed by the person whose name it bears and also that he is the person described in the
instrument.
